Journal #8

Pros of National Geographic photo journalism

  • Vast Travelling
  • Meet new and interesting people
  • Experience cultures most don't get the chance to see
  • Choose your own style(location, and subjects)of work
  • Your work is(can be)admired by millions all across the world
  • Work independently

Cons of National Geographic photo journalism

  • Lots of time spent in the field, very little at home
  • Most of the time is used up getting permission to take photos
  • Some work requires living in harsh conditions(Cold weather, intense bug swarms)
  • You have to decide on whats good and what isn't, a stressful job.

Assignment Number 1

Long exposure photographs are awesome, I personally find them really appealing with the 'abstract' way they grab the things we see everyday. The images typically have a variety of colors due to the change of lighting and objects that pass through the view of the lens while the camera is taking pictures over the long time. I like the 'drag' look they give to the photo of the moment moving.
